Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), formerly University of Pune is a public university established in 1949 that is internationally recognised for its innovative Teaching Research and Extension activities. SPPU is one of leading Indian universities. It is ranked second among the Indian Universities by the ‘Times world University rankings’. The University has around 700 affiliated colleges with a large international student community. It is one of only four non-European partner Universities in the MA Euroculture programme of the EU. SPPU is an active participant in the Erasmus Mundus programme. It has academic and research collaborations with a number of North American, African and European Universities including University of Bremen, University of Sorbonne (Paris), Lausanne (Switzerland), University of Bremen (Germany) AS-ICTP, Trieste, Italy. SPPU’s main tasks in the CHIEF project as a Consortium Partner will be to conduct empirical research in India, to coordinate WP9 on dissemination of research outcomes, to contribute to the postcolonial theoretical and conceptual framework of the project.
