Suhas Palshikar taught political science at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, India. He is co-director of the research programme on comparative democracy, Lokniti, located at CSDS, Delhi and is chief editor of the journal, Studies in Indian Politics. Besides being frequent contributor toIndian ExpressandEPW, Suhas Palshikar has written extensively on issues pertaining to India’s competitive politics. He has co-edited post-election volumes on 2009 elections (Party Competition in Indian States: Electoral Politics in Post-Congress Polity, 2014, OUP, with K.C. Suri and Yogendra Yadav) and 2014 elections (Electoral Politics in India: Resurgence of Bharatiya Janata Party, 2017, Routledge, with Sanjay Kumar and Sanjay Lodha). His recent publications include, Indian Democracy(2017), Oxford India Short Introductions, New Delhi, OUP. Working on WP3 and WP8.
